it is so lovely being at my daughters’ homes and feeling at home – my arrival is announced with shouts of glee ‘grandma is here’ and a shower of hugs and kisses and being led to view all the things that are new since my last visit – with husbands and children and pets and very busy lives there is always a buzz of activity in the air and there is never a shortage of things to give a helping hand with – the constancy of feeding and clothing the families provides the opportunity of sharing in the food preparations and the doing of dishes and the folding of mountains of laundry – when the tasks are all done the bonding is completed with a walk or some games or a good movie … upon leaving i feel very loved and appreciated and take home lovingly prepared things and the satisfaction of having lightened the load and shared the bonds of familial love … i am reminded of similar visits from my mother and how much she was loved and appreciated and how important she still is at 93 to myself and my children and my grandchildren
